According to Met office, the wind direction is likely to shift from north to south which will push the mercury down several degrees across the city.
The minimum temperature in the city was recorded 17° Celsius on Wednesday. However, change in direction of winds is likely to intensify cold weather, weather department said.
It said a new spell of cold weather to remain continued for a week, adding, the weather is likely to remain moderately cool throughout the month of December and gradually transform into winter season.
On Sunday, the PMD said Sindh’s coastal areas were expected to see the possible effects of powerful cyclone ‘Ockhi’ that barrelled into Sri Lankan and Indian coasts and claimed over a dozen lives so far between Dec 4 and 5.
According to Met office, Ockhi was expected to enter Arabian Sea from south east in next 48 hours. The coastal areas of Karachi, Thatta, and Badin were expected to witness the cyclone impacts, the weather department said.
However, the cyclone was expected to lose its intensity.
Indian officials on Saturday said that authorities including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), India’s Coast Guard and Navy have rescued about 223 fishermen and evacuated thousands of people from cyclone-hit areas in India’s southeastern Islands.
