Mufti Qavi is arrested in Qandeel Baloch murder case while fleeing to Jhang. Mr. Qavi is being investigated in the Qandeel Baloch murder case. The court rejected extension in his pre-arrest bail in the case. Initially, Qavi was given bail but later the court rejected the extension in his pre-arrest bail.
Muft Qavi and Qandeel Baloch “selfie” pictures last year sparked great controversy which eventually led to murder of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch.
Miss Baloch’s father requested to police that name of Mufti Qavi should be included in the murder case. Mufti is being investigated for provoking the murder.
Mufti Qavi was initially present in the court but he later escaped the premises. Qavi was later traced through his mobile phone while he was ‘escaping’ to Jhang and taken into custody on Multan-Jhang highway. This raises a big question concerning Qavi’s innocence in the case who has denied any involvement in it.
The judge stated that proceedings against Qavi would take place under Section 302 and 109 (abetment) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The lawyer of Mufti Qavi Rana Mehboob Alam said that he was only going to Jhang to take part in a funeral and was not escaping court proceedings. However, his statement does not make sense and he could have informed the court instead of running away.
Sub-Inspector Noor Akbar was suspended in connection with helping Qavi escape and for defective investigation in the Qandeel Baloch murder case. The city police officer (CPO) has ordered for the arrest of the sub inspector and a FIR has also been registered against him.
Qandeel Baloch’s brother Waseem murdered her in the name of honor last year in July. Baloch is one of the many women who are murdered in the name of honor. This brutality needs to stop and court should make a strong decision in Qandeel Baloch murder case and set a precedent in honor killing cases.
